For the "holding back " challenge for Tolkien_weekly

Eowyn was always doubtful of other people’s good intentions. How could she think otherwise? Her parents passed too soon; she loved her uncle, but it always seemed obligatory for him to love her and Eomer in the same way.  Unconditionally.

When King Theoden was ailing, she took care of him with love and duty, but she saw love in only that way. Duty.

So when Faramir looked at her not with pity, but with utter respect and adoration,  she had not felt this feeling ever before.

There was no holding back her mutual affection.  Maybe there was something called love.
