Tolkien quote of the day:

'You do not understand!' said Pippin. 'You must go - and therefore we must, too. Merry and I are coming with you. Sam is an excellent fellow, and would jump down a dragon's throat to save you, if he did not trip over his own feet; but you will need more than one companion in your dangerous adventure.'

Tolkien quote of the day:

The case of Galadriel and her brother Finrod is somewhat different. They were the children of Finarfin, Indis' second son. He was of his mother's kind in mind and body, having the golden hair of the Vanyar, their noble and gentle temper, and their love of the Valar. As well as he could he kept aloof from the strife of his brothers and their estrangement from the Valar, and he often sought peace among the Teleri, whose language he learned. He wedded Earwen, the daughter of King Olwe, and his children were thus the kin of King Elwe Pindikollo (in Sindarin Elu Thingol) of Doriath in Beleriand, for he was the brother of Olwe; and this kinship influenced their decision to join in the Exile, and proved of great importance later in Beleriand. Finrod was like his father in his fair face and golden hair, and also in noble and generous heart, though he had the high courage of the Noldor and in his youth their eagerness and unrest; and he had also from his Telerin mother a love of the sea and dreams of far lands that he had never seen. Galadriel was the greatest of the Noldor, except Feanor maybe, though she was wiser than he, and her wisdom increased with the long years.

And also to search out the proper wedding date for Faramir and Eowyn because LotR proper does not say! :(

yes the muse is alive! (after a tiring couple of days....)

Quote of the moment:

"I would have guided Frodo to Mordor and gone with him to the end; but if I seek him now in the wilderness, I must abandon the captives to torment and death. My heart speaks clearly at last: the fate of the Bearer is in my hands no longer. The Company has played its part. Yet we that remain cannot forsake our companions while we have strength left. Come! We will go now. Leave all that can be spared behind! We will press on by day and dark!" --Aragorn, The Departure of Boromir

I have a newfound fondness of Aragorn... well Faramir first but those quotes from Aragorn.... :stars in eyes:

but then a TORN thread had me rereading some of TTT  (http://newboards.theonering.net/forum/gforum/perl/gforum.cgi?post=1004707;sb=post_time;so=DESC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread) and this paragraph stood out for me in the "Stairs of Cirith Ungol" (and makes me so... ya know.... in tune with why i love Frodo. <3 <3)
Also side/ one of the repliers listed "Cirith Ungol" as fave chapter. I would agree but I love "Choices of Master Samwise" a little more. Just a little. (who doesn't love that chapter? or it's so hard to choose!!!0

"Despair had not left him, but the weakness had passed. He even smiled grimly, feeling now as clearly as a moment before he had felt the opposite, that what he had to do, he had to do , if he could , and that whether Faramir or Aragorn or Elrond or Galadriel or Gandalf or anyone else ever knew about it was beside the purpose. He took his staff in one hand and the phial in his other. When he saw that the clear light was already welling through his fingers, he thrust it into his bosom and held it against his heart. Then turning from the city of Morgul, now no more than a grey glimmer across a dark gulf, he prepared to take the upward road."

Who isn't touched by this??????? (and go fangirl all over again)

I think i actually liked PJ's Cirith Ungol but if he had shot Frodo holding onto the phial, even better.
